This is a unique (only one of these on the planet) and very rare balsa wood longboard. It was born about 18 years ago through the creativity of Rob Beling. It has the real feel of a 1950s/60s board. All I know is that it is a gorgeous board that cuts through just about anything with grace. It is in pristine condition despite regular use and has been well looked after with no repairs. So whether you are into wave carving or wall-hanging – don’t miss this opprtunity to own a thing of beauty.
Here’s the technical bit:
9′ 6″ x 22 1/2″ x 2 3/4″
10″ integral balsa fin
Volume 70 litres approx.
Soft 50/50 rocker
Continuous relaxed rocker with plenty of concave in the nose for locked-in noseriding.
Flat bottom contour
Viewing is a must. Leash and bag not currently included.
What the surfer and shaper, Rob Beling, says about this board:
“A superb nose rider which smooths out any chop and chatter. I re-shaped the front hull and put a concave in there as there was a slight dead spot in the rocker before that which came already in the pre-glued blank from Ecuador. You cant do that with a foam board! I got it glassed heavy as I wanted to get the feel of the original 1950s Balsa boards. The design was compromise between perhaps 3 of my favourite classic Harbours with the accent on being a bit more rounded in the hips, like the 1950s “Pig” boards. a design which works particularly well on a heavier board. As an old school nose rider it worked superbly, and its lovely to have all that stability and smooth glide and be able to bulldoze and plough through soup.”
